FISHING HOLE

Mat. 4:19-20, 24-25…And he saith unto them, Follow me, and
I will make you fishers of men.
And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him.
And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

THESE VERSES TELL OF THE JESUS’ CALL OF SOME OF THE APOSTLES TO FOLLOW HIM AND BECOME FISHERS OF MEN. THE SCRIPTURES TELLS US THAT THEY LEFT THEIR EARTHLY BELONGINGS TO FOLLOW CHRIST. HE BECAME THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IN THEIR LIVES. THE APOSTLES SAW MANY MIRACLES PERFORMED AND PETER AND THOMAS EVEN CONFESSED THAT JESUS WAS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.

AFTER A PERIOD OF OVER THREE YEARS, AFTER SEEING THE MIRACLES OF HEALING, THE DEAD BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE, AFTER EVEN THE RESURRECTION, A STRANGE THING HAPPENED.

JOHN 21:3…Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, we also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

THEY WENT BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING IN THE WORLD BEFORE THEY KNEW JESUS.

CAN WE REMEMBER THE TIME WE SURRENDERED ALL FOR CHRIST? CAN WE REMEMBER THE TIME THAT GOD CALLED US TO PREACH THE GOSPEL? HOW EXCITING IT WAS. BUT NOW THE ELDERS FIGHT; THE BULLETIN HAS TO BE PRINTED; THE FAMILY HAS NEEDS THAT ARE NOT BEING MET. ARE WE BACK IN THE WORLD? WHY ARE WE FISHING? FOR THE WORLD OR FOR SOULS?

Rev. 2:4-5…Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly…
